UNIFORM INFORMATION                                                                                                   2019-2020

Uniform sales at DeBakey HSHP are the exclusive activity of DeBakey PTO with the purpose of raising funds used to support the student classes, clubs, organization, and other enrichment activities while also helping parents find quality clothing items at reasonable prices in one place at one time.  Our main event is the big summer sale right before the start of the school year. It is important that parents and/or students attend this event since our uniform inventory and choices will be their best at this time.

The SCHEDULE for uniform purchases will be the SAME as the schedule that students follow to pick up their computers and textbooks. We begin on Monday,  Aug 19, at 0830 for incoming FRESHMEN w last names beginning A-M, then Tues. morning for freshmen w names  N-Z.  All sophomores may come on Wed., then juniors on Thurs., and seniors on Friday.  There will be follow up sales on school days TBD.

Cash and credit cards (with a small fee) are accepted at all uniform sales.  Please note that we do NOT accept checks. Students are encouraged to try on the items at the sale in order to be sure they fit as there are no exchanges or refunds.

The school handbook outlines the uniform requirements and should be consulted, but the following has proven to be a helpful list for incoming freshmen.  Neither pants nor skirts are included in this sale.

Texas Honor Roll

Dear MS AGNES E PERRY,

On behalf of Educational Results Partnership (ERP), I am writing to congratulate your school community. After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school in Texas, DEBAKEY H S FOR HEALTH PROF was a clear leader in getting students to grade-level and beyond and has been named to the 2018 – 2019 Honor Roll. Your school will be recognized in the press as a leader in student achievement and will be provided with a free banner to display on campus. Also, we will feature your school on ERP’s website where educators and policymakers can seek out high-performing schools so that they can replicate success.

The 2018 – 2019 Honor Roll recognizes public elementary, middle and high schools that demonstrate high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. For high schools, Honor Roll recognition includes measures of college readiness in students. This year, the Texas Honor Roll recognized 855 higher-performing schools that are distinguished for their academic achievement and closing achievement gaps.

Through national research, we have identified a common set of success factors in higher-performing Honor Roll schools and districts. These include clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, along with:

  • Evidence-based instructional practices
  • A defined system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students
  • An investment in human capital
  • Maintenance of data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance
  • Resources and guidance to support schools’ efforts in preparing all students for college and career

We encourage you to promote your school’s accomplishment and recognition as a 2018 – 2019 Texas Honor Roll school.

From all of us at ERP, we thank you for your hard work and commitment to improving student outcomes. We are proud to tell your story and promote your success!

Sincerely,
James S. Lanich, PhD
