The National Honor Society at DeBakey held a ceremony on January 28th where 45 juniors were inducted as new members. Congratulations to all of the students joining the NHS this year!
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
National Honor Society creates enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulates desire to serve the school and community, promotes leadership, and develops character. NHS participates in many activities such as collecting for the needy, raising money for scholarships and activities for charities. A 3.75 cumulative GPA after the first semester of the student’s sophomore year and teacher recommendations are required to join.
Applications are available to eligible students by February 1. Students that make it to the NHS will be inducted in their Junior Year.
