Baylor College of Medicine Psychiatry Resident Outreach to the Public Sector is providing a “Building Bridges: Mental Health in the Media” forum for students and parents on Wednesday, May 1st beginning at 6:30 pm. Dinner will be provided beginning at 6:00 pm. Parents and students are asked to RSVP through Eventbrite (see link below) no later than Tuesday, April 30th by 4:00 pm in order for ample food to be ordered. Please join us for a discussion on the portrayal of mental health in the media–led by our renowned psychiatrists, community mental health professionals, and spiritual leaders. Learn about topics affecting our adolescents today, including depression, suicide, body image, and issues involving the LGBT community. Learn how to navigate the stigma around mental health and explore with a spiritual perspective guided by our faith-based leaders.

There will be 5 speakers from varying backgrounds, including the Jewish Family Services, the Sakina Center, Houston Interfaith Ministries, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Gender Infinity.
