Mental Health Resources

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Houston Independent School District is joining organizations across the country in raising awareness about the importance of mental health by highlighting available resources and support for students and staff.

Throughout the month, HISD will be sharing various tips and resources focused on stress management, emotional resilience, and self-care practices. Additionally, HISD’s dedicated counseling services, mental health professionals, and community partnerships are available to support and guide students.

The best way to seek assistance for students is by contacting your campus counseling office or completing the Student Assistance Form (SAF).

Through a new partnership with Hazel Health, HISD students can also connect with licensed medical providers via telehealth to receive mental and physical health services.

HISD Employees can utilize the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to leverage available mental health resources.

HISD Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey

You are invited to complete the 2022-2023 HISD Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Survey.

The purpose of this annual survey is to see how well your child’s school partners with you and encourages your family’s engagement in your child’s education.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all feedback is anonymous. If you have multiple children in HISD, you are asked to fill out a survey for each school your children currently attend.

The deadline to complete the survey is May 19, 2023.

REMINDER: WhatsApp Parent Groups

Attention: Class of 2026 and 2027 parents!

Have you already joined the WhatsApp Groups for 2026 and/or 2027? We have 2 active communities of parents sharing news, resources and support, all within WhatsApp!

REMINDER:  Every DeBakey student must have at least 100 community service to graduate with a DeBakey diploma.

Remember, colleges look at the community service and how you give back to your community when choosing a candidate to accept into their school. The summer time is a great chance to get caught up and to give back to the community.
